More Compensation For Minnesota CEOs
May 15, 2005 11:44 am US/Central Minneapolis (AP) Last year was a very good year to be a chief executive officer at a Minnesota company, with total compensation up nearly 20 percent, to over a million dollars, for more than half of them.
While the top executives were reaping windfalls from stock options, the workers on the bottom rungs of the economic ladder were struggling.
"Real wages" for average U.S. hourly workers fell in 2004 by 0.6 percent, after adjusting for inflation, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. For the past three years, real hourly wages have remained flat.
I know the pittance of a raise I received puts me into the average hourly worker category. It was les than a cost of living increase. I also know I probably shouldn't complain about this, because I have a house, food to eat, lots of stuff, and there are a lot of people a lot worse off than me, but it just irks me that these CEO's get all of this money and yet we who are the workers get the shaft.
Bitching about it isn't going to change anything, but it does make me feel a little bit better.

Amen, sister. And it's an EPIDEMIC in America. And it doesn't help that it puts us (the worker bees) in the awkward position of "I'm thankful for a job," BUT - "I deserve more than this." :o/
