Here in NE

Well, I'm in Norfolk, Nebraska now, and I was able to get an internet connection here. My first presentation today went really well, but it was to a group of about 15 grandmothers. I do really well with grandmothers. I don't feel the same pressures talking to them that I do talking to my peers. I guess it's because no matter who you are, you can always talk to your grandma and one person's grandma is a lot like anothers.

About the only downside to the whole day was that I did the presentation on an almost empty stomach. My host last night made an egg bake of sorts this morning, and I'm sorry to say it wasn't the greatest thing I've eaten. This was followed up by a potluck lunch where I couldn't identify any of the hot dishes being served. At least back home when it's a potluck I can recognize what I'm eating. This afternoon I had no clue. And the dishes that were presented just weren't to my liking. My first meal of the day was essentially dinner, and you can't go wrong when you order from Pizza Hut.

Tomorrow I'll be speaking to a group of about 50 during the Sunday School hour and then I also have about a 5 minute bit during the service at the First Baptist Church of Norfolk. I'm sure it will go well, but I always get the jitters. I hope they're a receptive audience and that the young people of the church will listen to what I say and decide that they can participate in the Xtreme Team program. The last couple of years have really been a struggle getting enough people to go on the trips they have planned.

If you are a Baptist and attend an American Baptist Church, please have the young adults at your church check out this program. I guarantee, they will see and Xperience things they never thought possible.

I guess that's the end tonight's post. I'll be at church bright and early tomorrow morning setting up the laptop to a projector or TV so everyone can see the show.

Here we go again.

What's missing from this picture?

This is where my car should be.

It's in the shop right now getting all fixed up. She needed a new starter. I'm going on a road trip tomorrow and I would really like her to make it the entire way.

I'm heading to Nebraska to do a couple of presentations of my Xtreme Team trip to Ghana in 2003. Wendy was kind enough to let me use her car tomorrow to run a few errands while I'm waiting for my car, and as soon as it's done and I get Wendy's vehicle back to her, I'll be headin' down the highway.

So if anyone is in the vicinity of Albion, NE on Saturday or Norfolk, NE on Sunday, shoot me an e-mail. I'll be attempting to find the nearest location with a wireless connection. I'm hoping there'll be something, anything available.

Anywho, have a lovely weekend and I'll see you all on Sunday night.

I love holiday weekends. I pretty much managed to turn every single one of them this year into a four day weekend. Columbus Day was no exception, so here's how my weekend went.

-Slept until 9:00
-Watched TV, played the computer
-Took a shower around 2:00 (after which I promptly changed into clean pj's)
-Watched TV, played the computer
-Slept a little
-Watched TV, played the computer
-Went to bed

-Slept until 9:00
-Watched TV, played the computer
-Had dinner with Wendy, her aunt and uncle
-Went to a bowling alley to meet up with some of Wendy's friends
-Wandered down W 7th Street in St. Paul looking for an open bar
-Watched Wendy and her friend throw a shoe across the street, trying to hit a bus driving by
-Watched TV, played the computer
-Went to bed

-Left the house at 7:40 am to go to church
-Went to my brother and sister-in-law's after church to deliver some flowers from my mom and play with the babies
-Changed my first auntie diaper (not a poopy one, thank you)
-Completed my first auntie baby feeding (little girl is not a burper, but her brother sure is!)
-Generally stared in awe at babies for several hours while laugh at my brother as he prepared his shopping list

-Slept until 10:30
-Watched TV, played the computer
-Slept a little more
-Picked up Wendy and dropped her off at her friend's so she could take her puppy to the vet
-Went over to my friend's to see her kids and chat while I waited for Wendy
-Picked up Wendy and went to grab some dinner
-Watched TV, played the computer
-Went to bed

See, really exciting, isn't it.

It's official

Well, the babies have arrived.

They came shortly before 10 am, with one minute separating the delivery of the boy and the girl.

Here are some stats:

Boy - 6 lbs 14 oz - 19 inches
Girl - 5 lbs 2 oz - 18 inches

They're both healthy, 20 fingers and toes, 4 arms and legs, etc.

Mom is doing fine, though she's a little groggy with the pain meds.

When I get home, I hope to have some pictures for you!

Here you go!

Today is the day

Today is the day I get to meet my niece and nephew. Provided the girl hasn't turned and they decided to induce instead.

My sister-in-law is scheduled for a c-section this morning, but they'll do an ultrasound first and if the girl is no longer breech, they'll probably try to induce labor rather than just taking the babies.

Both my brother and sister-in-law have been having chats with that little girl for the past week or so letting her know she doesn't have to turn and it's okay for her to stay where she's at. I think they're ready for the babies to be here and I'm not sure my sister-in-law is looking forward to trying to do a natural birth with two kids.

I'll let you know what happens when I hear something.
